Christmas is a festival of excess, flatulence, family board games and food comas. And it’s almost time for that annualised tradition of replenishing the pastiche grandeur of your artificial Christmas tree, that has been isolated in the deepest recesses of your attic. Unsnarling the tangled weave of lights with patient discipline, isolating the faulty bulbs in the laced network of lights, before buying new ones anyway. The ascetic fervour of extending the malleable branches on the tree in perfect symmetrical rigidity for the stability of decorative frivolity. Displaying it’s miscellany flamboyance in the corner of the living that finally precipitates that you dangle surplus baubles, or other additional attachments from your zipper and parade around the house as if you have two bulky, but rather festive “Christmas sacks”. Just me on that one then? Well at least this customery prelude to Christmas now has a name thanks to these Star Wars baubles! “Sarah, it’s time for SpaceBalls!” If nothing else these tree ornaments prove that Star Wars will populate almost every child and big child’s presents this year. That “Spaceballing” probably isn’t the safest of Christmas traditions if your family is there. And that Disney, if they felt inclined could merchandise beef to cows.
