Resident Evil 5 truly divided the majority of long time Resident Evil fans, many were dissatisfied with the setting, mechanics, gameplay or all of the above, but the overall defining nuisance with Resident Evil 5 was that it just wasnt scary. The overwhelming terror that consumed you as your cumbersome character traverses through the ravaged city of Raccoon City, or the moments investigating underground labs only to be confronted by a BOW, your character raising their gun to fire as many rounds into the creature when click, you’ve frustratingly run out of ammo for your shotgun were instances sadly lacking from the previous Resident Evil iteration. Now Resident Evil is back and in the familiar locale of Raccoon City to once again torment your subconscious.
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City takes place in and around the same time that both Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield are attempting to survive and escape from the same zombie infested city, and will see you take control of an elite group of Umbrella special forces sent in to cover up Umbrella’s involvement with the T-virus incident and subsequently kill any survivors. As you can imagine, having ORC returning to its original haunts also allows Capcom to reintroduce 2 of its most popular characters in Claire and Leon with the added option of deciding the pairs fate, (but you wouldn’t want to kill them, would you?). Umbrellas special forces team that you control will consist of 6 different characters with various unique attributes, Vector (cloaking abilities), Spectre (sharpshooter),Beltway (explosives), For Eyes (Scientist), Bertha (medic) and Lupo (team leader). Add to that the return of zombies, BOW’s, Lickers and the Tyrant and it’s almost unthinkable that Capcom will impress the majority and not the minority of its fans.
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City will be released towards the end of 2012. Check out the link below to watch the E3 trailer.
